Playgroup Life

About Us

East Leake Pre – School Playgroup has been operating in East Leake for 53 years from various locations including the village hall and Costock playing fields pavilion. Our current building is single level and can be accessed either via the side gate or main entrance at pick up and drop off times and via the main entrance at all other times.

The playgroup is open term-time only following Nottinghamshire County Council’s term dates and Brookside Primary School’s in-service days. Playgroup operates Monday to Friday, 8.50am – 3.30pm, with AM and PM sessions each day plus the option of a one hour lunch club session. We accept up to 33 children per session across our two age-streamed rooms.

We receive Nursery Education Funding for eligible 2 year olds and all ,3 and 4 year olds with the option of additional funding up to 30 hours funding for those who are eligible.

Children and their families have the option, once their child turns three, to use wrap around care with Active Minds before and after school club which operates from the same building. They offer care from 7.30-8.50am and 3.30-6.00pm either side of the playgroups opening hours.

The children that attend playgroup primarily come from East Leake and the surrounding villages. We welcome children from all cultural backgrounds and offer additional levels of support to children with special educational needs or disabilities.

How Playgroup is run

Playgroup is a charity, run by a fantastic committee of parent volunteers. Without these volunteers playgroup legally cannot operate. As children move up to school at aged 4 parents naturally move on so it is imperative that we have new volunteers to replace them. If you would be willing to help in any way please contact the office in the first instance.
